BMW R 1200 GS [2004-2012] - R120 GR86 Kit

Comprehensive GR86 conversion in a classic white and red design

The R120 GR86 Kit reinterprets the BMW R 1200 GS in the style of classic G/S motorcycles. White and red fairing components, a black seat and matte black technical components create a cohesive conversion concept without permanently modifying the original parts.

According to the manufacturer, the replacement components weigh a total of 6,4 kg less than the original parts. Four kilograms concern components located in front of the handlebars on the standard GS. This is intended to make the converted motorcycle easier to handle in the city and on mixed routes. It remains possible to return the vehicle to its original configuration.

Tank, Seat and Side Panels

• Pair of lightweight tank covers made of special resin with carbon fiber reinforcements

• Right cover can be removed quickly for air filter maintenance

Three original M5 clips from the motorcycle and the supplied M5 × 12 mm button-head screws are used for the upper connections of the tank covers. The original pointed M5 screws must not be used, as they may damage the tank. The side R1200-GS logos must be transferred from the motorcycle or purchased separately.

Front and Rear Fenders

• Lightweight red rear fender with a clear finish and openings for a case frame

• No modifications to the electrical system are required to connect the tail light

The original R1200-GS logo for the rear fender is not included in the kit. The standard mounts for the Vario plastic cases cannot be installed directly on the kit. A separately available Unit Garage case frame is required to use the original Vario plastic cases. Original ADV aluminum cases with metal frames can be used in the R120-G/S configuration.

Handlebars, Headlight and Front

• CNC-machined handlebar risers made of solid aluminum alloy with an anodized finish

To install the instrument cluster, the three rubber pads from the original subframe are retained and inserted into the corresponding openings in the new headlight frame.

Tank Mounts, Crash Bar and Engine Guard

• Robust fuel tank mounts made of powder-coated steel
• Installed at the attachment points of the removed original subframe
• Prepared to accommodate the original rubber pads
• Crash bar and engine guard made of steel with a highly durable powder coating
• Additional side brace for protection during off-road falls
• Spacer bushings and screws included
• Most maintenance work can be performed without removing the crash bar

Oil Cooler System

• Powder-coated steel oil cooler bracket that also serves as a guard for the oil cooler
• Aluminum finned oil cooler with high cooling performance and low weight
• Complete line set for positioning the oil cooler on the right side of the crash bar
• Steel clamps, connectors and upper copper seals included
• The lower left connection remains in its original condition

Installation and Compatibility

The R120 GR86 Kit is intended for BMW R 1200 GS models from model years 2004 to 2012 and is offered in versions for 2004–2007 and 2008–2012. The stated installation time is approximately four hours. Some details deliberately left original are transferred from the motorcycle.
